Spring Cleaning for Your Computer

Many people take great care of their computers' insides—scanning for viruses and malware, running regular software and antivirus updates, and defragmenting—without paying a whole lot of attention to their computers' outsides. This can leave machines grimy, gummed up, and covered in fingerprints.

A computer needs love both inside and out:

1. Clean your screen using a soft cloth and screen spray.

2. Use a Q-tip and compressed air to get crumbs out of your keyboard.

3. If you have a mouse with a tracking ball, make sure it's not gummed up with dirt and hair. With many mice, you can just pop out the tracking ball, clean it with some mild soap and warm water, dry it thoroughly, and pop it back in.
