![]() Trick or Treat Safety Tips What are all the cool kids wearing for Halloween this year? Early news reports suggest that the Joker will be a big seller, and we're betting that we'll see more than a few little girls with Sarah Palin beehives and glasses knocking on doors this Halloween. But whether your kids are dressing up as a comic book character or the governor of Alaska, here are some tips for staying safe. 1. Wear light or reflective clothing. Sure, the typical Halloween costume is usually pretty darka bat, for example, or a ninjabut that means that kids can easily get lost in crowds. It also makes it more difficult for cars to see them (and avoid them) on the road. So make sure costumes at least have some light or bright elementsa white shirt or hat, or reflective ankle cuffs like cyclists use. 2. If you're traveling as a group, consider a group theme. It's a lot easier to keep track of everyone if you're a family of ghosts rather than a mixed group of ghosts, goblins, and comic book characters. 3. Get creative. A distinctive homemade costume will help your kid stand out in a crowdand you won't be left searching for your superhero in a sea of similarly costumed Batmen at the end of the night. |
