Highlights of the 2008 Threat Report include malware exploits moving at unprecedented speed and volume with the majority of sophisticated blended threats spreading through the web, along with tremendous growth in data-stealing malware. Experts predict 2009 will bring more of the same, especially more ransomware attacks, poisoned DNS caches, and attacks on the Mac.

Downad/Conficker Worm: Trend Micro Has It Covered
The Downad worm, also known as Conficker, is turning millions of computers into remote-controlled bots. Once active, it disables access to Windows Update service and antivirus websites. It also hides or locks files and disables the option to reboot in Safe Mode. Plus on April 1st, Downad is programmed to download additional updates that will make it even more difficult to detect and remove.
