Trend Micro Ranked #1 in Malware Protection in Independent Tests
NSS Labs new benchmark testing methodology tests anti-malware in online environments. NSS Labs compared leading endpoint security solutions using "real world" testing methods that go beyond simple detection to provide an unbiased report of security performance. This noncommissioned, unsponsored test proves that Trend Micro™ Smart Protection Network™, our unique in-the-cloud security, provides superior protection. OfficeScan™ 10, powered by the Smart Protection Network, ranked #1 in both malware protection and "time to protect." Our consumer endpoint product, Trend Micro™ Internet Security, powered by Smart Protection Network, also ranked #1, compared to the leading vendor's products.

Quotable Customer
"We chose the InterScan Web Security Virtual Appliance deployment option for our Internet gateway to avoid the Windows™ license fee and annual maintenance fees on another physical server. Invoice Spam Highlights Growing Malware Family
An emerging family of malware named BREDOLAB is growing in popularity among cybercriminals. One variant arrives as spam that falsely appears to be from Gizmodo, a popular gadget blog. The email claims the user has purchased a laptop and says to print out the attached "label" to receive the parcel. In reality, the attachment is a Trojan that can be used to run external commands. Trend Micro customers with our Web and Email Reputation technologies are safe from this threat.

Malicious Ads on New York Times Website Pose as Fake Antivirus Security
Who can you trust when malware appears to be antivirus security on a trusted website like The New York Times? The ads spawned pop-up messages falsely warning users that their computer had been infected and urging them to install fake antivirus software. Ultimately the scam allowed cybercriminals to steal credit card information. Rik Ferguson, senior security advisor at Trend Micro, says, "If you ever see a pop-up window that arrives uninvited, telling you your PC is infected, ignore it. It is a scam." He adds, "To be more fully protected in the future, make sure you install an anti-malware program that will also block malicious URLs."
